Bill
Sep 27, 2010
Bill Callison, longtime Mad Housers volunteer, former Board of Directors member, and former client, was shot and killed last week attempting to break up an altercation. He was 52.
Bill was a great guy, kind, friendly and hardworking. He looked out for other folks even when he had next to nothing of his own. We're all diminished by his departure.

Swedish Architecture Students Visit
Aug 26, 2010
Had a wonderful visit with three students from Lund, who've come to Georgia to study alternative architecture and social issues (after visiting a few clients, they headed south to meet with Rural Studio), having heard about us from Prof. Meike Schalk, a teacher at KTH School of Architecture in Stockholm.
Microbuild
Aug 10, 2010
How little does it take to build a shelter? How about three people, one truck, and one car? That was the scene at the Low Rider deploy on the 1st, a deploy notably low on volunteers. (This is the reason why we usually don't schedule builds on August - it's too hot and too many folks are away)
Summer BBQ
Jul 22, 2010
We received an email from the Shelter 2.0 folks - sadly, Robert, who was going to bring down a shelter on Saturday, is stuck in Haiti trying to get shelters unloaded at port, and will not be able to make it. We're going to reschedule the Shelter 2.0 demo.
However, we're going to go ahead with the barbecue anyhow! Come on down to hang with the Housers as we drink some brews, eat some 'cue and build some shelters.
See you there!
Shelter 2.0 Demo / Summer Fundraiser
Jul 19, 2010
Shelter 2.0 (www.shelter20.com) is an innovative shelter built entirely from precision-cut plywood using a computer controlled router. Robert Bridges, one of the designers of Shelter 2.0, will be coming down with a donated shelter to demonstrate the ease of assembly of these amazing shelters. We're using the demo to also hold a small barbeque fundraiser -- come on down!
