The Mad Housers - And You
Interested? If so, we're interested in hearing from you! There are many ways that you can become involved with the Mad Housers.
Volunteering
Volunteer work with the Mad Housers is a uniquely rewarding experience. The Mad Housers go directly to the homeless, and work with them to address the problem of homelessness at its most fundamental level. All you need to have is a willingness to work, and a hammer. If you don't know how to swing a hammer, don't worry: we'll teach you.
Volunteers with trucks are particularly welcome.
To volunteer, sign up on our email list by sending email to madhousers-subscribe@yahoogroups.com. You can browse the list archives on the yahoogroups server.
Group policy
The Mad Housers is too small to accept large groups in their builds. However, we will gladly work with organizations of eight to twenty persons by helping them set up their own build. This is how it works:
- Your organization contacts the Mad Housers and arranges a build day, either at your facilities or ours.
- The Mad Housers supply the technical expertise in the form of a "build master" and blueprints, and your organization supplies the manpower and materials.
- Under the guidance of the "build master", a shelter is quickly assembled and test erected. After the build, the shelter belongs to your group do with as it pleases.
A Mad Houser build is a great team-building exercise. No previous skills are necessary, and there is a way for everyone in the group, no matter how skilled, to participate. If you think your group would enjoy working with The Mad Housers, contact us.
